ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

OYKA believes that a peaceful future is possible by ensuring economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Quality of life, welfare level, economic competitiveness, employment, and ecosystem sustainability depend on “common natural capital.”

OYKA has obtained environmental permits and licenses from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization for all its companies in full compliance with the legal Environmental Legislation. The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization monitors dust and gas emissions from the rotary kiln's main chimneys online.

OYKA has an Environmental Management System certificate within the scope of TS-EN-ISO 14001.

It allocates a significant amount of funds to environmental investments in its companies every year. Bag filter investments and other dedusting projects, closed clinker/coal stockholes, NOx emission reduction systems, more efficient combustion systems, continuous emission measurement and monitoring systems, waste water treatment plants, alternative fuel waste pretreatment and feeding systems, waste laboratory, production optimization systems (Expert Optimiser) are the main ones of these investments.

While designing and implementing its new investments, OYKA follows technological developments and uses the best available techniques. It takes care to choose the safest systems regarding occupational health and safety, which prevent pollution before it occurs, create the least pollution, and reduce pollution at its source.

It carries out activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions originating from its products and processes. Its low clinker additive cement types are developed with alternative raw materials through environmental management systems, clean production practices, energy efficiency projects, use of alternative energy sources, and R&D studies.

OYKA is leading in its regions by reducing its carbon footprint and investing in renewable energy resources. It also develops products with smaller carbon footprints in cooperation with universities.

In line with the Rehabilitation Projects and Recovery Plans prepared for the raw material quarries (minefields), rehabilitating the production areas whose reserves are depleted has been completed, and the natural balance has been re-established.

A first in Turkey in 2005, ENAT A.Ş. reached 31 partners for industrial forest cultivation. A private company named (Industrial Wood Farming) was established.

The project's ultimate goal is to plant 6 million saplings on an area of 4 thousand hectares by 2028.
